Boys Hope Girls Hope (BHGH) was founded in 1977 to help academically capable and motivated children-in-need meet their full potential by providing value-centered, family-like environments, opportunities for community engagement and long-term educational support through college.
Today, BHGH serves over 1,200 young scholars in 18 cities across the United States and Latin America. U.S. affiliates are located in: Baltimore, Baton Rouge, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Detroit, Kansas City, New Orleans, New York, Northeastern Ohio (Cleveland), Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Francisco Bay Area, Southern California (Irvine), and St. Louis. Latin American affiliates are: Esperanza Juvenil in Guatemala City, Guatemala; Casa Javier in Lima, Peru; and Ser Y Crecer in Monterrey, Mexico.
BHGH scholars are enrolled in top-rated schools in safe neighborhoods and diligently matched to the college preparatory curriculum best-suited to their needs.
They are matched with mentors who provide academic support, tutoring, and the positive role modeling so crucial to a child’s development.
They participate in a full range of extracurricular activities, college-preparation exercises, and spiritual instruction and reflection.
And our scholars receive academic, financial, and spiritual support through college.
BHGH proudly supports 268 U.S. and 30 Latin American collegians. Impressively, every year for the past five years, the average rate of continued college enrollment for our collegians has been 93%.
